Hertford and the surrounding areas

The town of Hertford can be found 20 miles north of London in the Hertfordshire countryside. This small town has a population of 27,000 and dates back to the 10th century.

Should you decide to visit Hertford for a few days, make sure you visit Hertford Castle. This part of the UK makes a lovely place to visit for walks in the countryside. Local rail stations Hertford North and Hertford East take you into London within the hour.

If you want to try something a little more adrenalin fuelled, you can always pay a visit to the Lee Valley White Water Centre in Waltham Abbey. Located on the Hertford East line at Waltham Cross, the centre offers rafting for all.

For the beginners, there is a calm area to paddle about in – and for you mad fools who like some ferocious white water, the advanced area will be the place to head.
